In November 2017, the Nursing Associate Trailblazer group announced that the apprenticeship for Nursing Associate had been approved for delivery by the Institute for Apprenticeships.

The approved Standard and assessment plan can be found here.

Employers, training providers and apprentice assessment organisations can now prepare for delivery of the apprenticeship.

Sue Crew, North Bristol Healthcare NHS Trust, Chair of the Trailblazer Group said:
‘It’s been a real pleasure to work with such a committed group of employers and other stakeholders to develop the apprenticeship standard and end point assessment for the Nursing Associate. Now we have to get on with the exciting task of implementing the apprenticeship.’

Sam Donohue, Senior Nurse Manager: Policy, Health Education England said:
‘Health Education England is delighted that the Nursing Associate Apprenticeship Standard has been approved. The trailblazer group were dedicated to supporting the development of this apprenticeship standard and have worked together in the submission of the standard.

HEE are currently finalising the detail of how the next wave of trainees will be supported, utilising the Nursing Associate apprenticeship standard and will publish this soon on our website.’
