Aspiring Dietitians Gain Valuable Career Insights During Online Session

Posted on 22nd July 2026

Aspiring dietitians aged 15 to 20 recently took part in an interactive virtual careers event, gaining valuable insight into a career in dietetics.

Supported by United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, the evening explored how dietitians translate the science of food and nutrition into practical advice and support to improve people’s health and wellbeing.

The engaging session introduced attendees to the role of a dietitian, the wide range of people they support, and the many specialist areas within the profession. Participants also discovered the different routes into dietetics, including university and apprenticeship pathways.

Throughout the event, young people were encouraged to get involved through interactive quizzes, polls and case study activities, helping to bring the profession to life and test their knowledge.

The session also explored what a typical day looks like for a dietitian, career progression opportunities, and specialist roles across a variety of healthcare settings. A particular highlight was hearing from both student and qualified dietitians, who shared their personal journeys into the profession and offered practical advice for those considering a future career in dietetics.
