Aspiring Theatre Careers in Lincoln Event Inspires Future Healthcare Professionals

In June, the Talent Academy welcomed aspiring healthcare professionals to Lincoln County Hospital for its popular Aspiring Theatre Careers event. Alongside a second event in Boston, the programme gave young people aged 15–19 from across Lincolnshire a unique opportunity to explore the exciting world of operating theatres and discover the wide range of careers involved in patient care.
Supported by theatre teams from United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (ULTH), attendees gained first-hand insight into the skills, knowledge and values required to care for patients before, during and after surgery. Theatre professionals shared their own career journeys, delivered interactive presentations, and led practical workshops designed to bring the theatre environment to life.
Event Highlights
During the event, attendees were able to:
- Meet the ULTH Theatre Team, gaining valuable insight into their careers and experiences.
- Take part in career talks exploring the many roles within a theatre team and discovering how collaboration and communication contribute to safe, high-quality patient care.
- Engaged in clinical skills workshops, developing their understanding of essential theatre-related skills such as PPE procedures, surgical instrumentation, and venepuncture.
The event proved to be a valuable and memorable experience for attendees, who praised the opportunity to learn directly from healthcare professionals and take part in hands-on activities.
