Request for Support for Inventory and Storage Rationalisation Project

Posted on 22nd July 2025

As part of the cost improvement initiative, we are currently undertaking a project to review and rationalise stored items and equipment across our multiple on-site and off-site storage units.  The aim is to complete a full inventory of all items to assess their condition and prepare for consolidation into a single, more efficient storage location.  This work will ultimately be transitioned to the estate team as part of ongoing Business as Usual activity.

To support this initial phase, a team of Reservists has been deployed over the past four weeks.  They have made significant progress, including: attending the identified units at Saxilby.  They have conducted an itemised inventory of stored furniture and equipment, labelled each item with a unique inventory sticker and assessed all items as to whether they are in good condition, need repair, questionable, for Disposal or for auction if not for NHS use.

The team has already successfully filled a storage container with unserviceable and unusable items, including broken chairs and desks and other outdated or damaged equipment.  The skip is now fully and ready for collection, with a scrap metal collection scheduled.  Salvageable items have been returned to appropriate stores for re-use.

Given the scale and importance of this work, a dedicated team of reservists have been requested support to complete the initial review, they have worked hard over the last 5 weeks, they have worked tirelessly often emerging covered in cobwebs and dust from pulling out items that have been stored for some time.  Thanks go to reservists John, Steve, Karen, Liz, Natalie and Paula for their hard work, perseverance and team spirit.

Pictured below is one of our Reservists Liz Workman who is ready to start filling the skip on Monday.
