Completing an apprenticeship means apprentices earned and learned. Training is funded by contributions from the government and their employer, and they receive a regular salary, apprenticeships are a great option for getting on the job ladder or supercharging careers.
No, apprenticeships are open to everyone over the age of 16 and there is no upper age limit.
The level of apprenticeship is determined by the role being undertaken in the workplace and the existing level of skills, knowledge and competence of the apprentice. The essential qualifications, previous experience and other requirements of the role are advertised in job descriptions.
An apprenticeship can take between one and six years to complete, depending on which apprenticeship the apprentice chooses, what level it’s at and their previous experience.
Apprentices earn a salary right from day one of their employment and training.
Most of the NHS trusts pay National Minimum Wage (age dependent) or higher for apprenticeship vacancies. For all apprenticeship posts, the wage/salary is fully transparent in job advertisements as well.
Apprenticeships allow 20% of your time spent in off the job training, often at a college, university or with a training provider.
There may be some self-study – but it will be dependent on individual learning styles and personal choice.
However, apprentices get 20% off the job training for learning and completing coursework whilst at work. Apprentices are required to evidence this off the job training during paid hours, over the planned duration of your apprenticeship.
All work experience opportunities will be shown on the ‘Work Experience Page’. You can apply via the ‘Apply’ icon at the end of each opportunity where you can register with the Lincolnshire Talent Academy and search for placements. Once you have submitted your request through this system, the Lincolnshire Talent Academy will then contact the organisation directly and will inform you by letter/email if your request has been successful or not. Due to the high number of requests, we cannot guarantee all applications will result in a placement.

Duration of the work experience placement will differ, placements vary from 1/2 day to 5 days but no longer than a week.
Unfortunately not as this doesn’t allow enough time for the department to consider your application. The process can take up to 6 weeks so please allow enough time for your application to be processed.

Students can specify a maximum of three dates. If the department is unable to offer a placement on those dates then the student will be contacted.
You will need to organise and meet any costs associated with your travel to and from the location of the work experience placement.
All applicants will be notified by post or email of the outcome.
If an applicant has been successful in obtaining a placement, they will be provided with an Offer Letter and full placement description and associated risk assessment. The Offer Letter contains a Placement Agreement which must be signed and returned prior to commencement. Applicants under the age of 18 years are required to obtain parent or guardian permission.
The applicant will be required to take a copy of their confirmation letter with them on placement.
