TAKE YOUR FIRST STEP INTO THE NHS AS A NURSING CADET APPRENTICE
.
Following the success of our 2017 entry level Nursing Cadet programme, we are looking to appoint further Nursing Cadets at Lincoln County Hospital commencing October 2018.
.
Designed in partnership with the Lincolnshire Talent Academy, the programme provides the foundation skills and competencies from which to develop a career within health and care.
.
The Nursing Cadet programme provides the first step onto our Nursing Workforce Development Pathway, offering fully supported training from Cadet through to Registered Nurse and beyond. Upon achievement of the Cadet programme, all apprentices shall be supported through a guaranteed interview for a permanent Healthcare Support Worker position within the Trust, aiding them to take their next step within the development pathway.
.
The Opportunity
We are currently seeking 10 Nursing Cadets to join our teams of healthcare support and nursing professionals at Lincoln County Hospital. Our Cadets will be employed by the Trust as an Apprentice and shall undertake the Level 2 Health Care Support Worker Apprenticeship Standard, supported by our in-house training team and our appointed Apprenticeship provider.
.
Our Cadets shall work under the direction of the Registered Nurse or Senior Healthcare Professional, and shall work with members of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver the highest standards of care to our patients, delivered with dignity, respect and compassion. With opportunities across various wards and operating theatres, each Cadet will be allocated to a specific area for the duration of their 13month programme.
.
Supervision and support (direct and indirect) will be provided during the apprenticeship, with progression being dependent on the completion of set objectives throughout the programme. This will enable the apprentice to work within the organisation to gain confidence, experience and build a portfolio of evidence for apprenticeship accreditation.
.
With a start date of October 2018, the Nursing Cadet Apprenticeship programme is offered as a thirteen month, full-time, fixed term contract, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and offers a fantastic opportunity for ambitious individuals to begin their career within the NHS.
.
Application Process:
Applications are invited to apply via our NHS Jobs website – please note, CVs will not be considered.
.
If your application is shortlisted you will be invited to attend an Apprentice Assessment Day, to be held on the 31st August at Lincoln County Hospital.
.
As part of the Assessment Day you will be asked to take part in care-giving scenarios, complete a multiple choice questionnaire and then have a short interview. You will also have the opportunity to meet and talk with members of our nursing teams.
.
Entry Criteria:
Our Entry Level Cadet programme has been designed to assist candidates with no prior experience to realise their potential and to develop their skills and competencies during the programme. As such, we’re looking for individuals with the enthusiasm, desire and passion to work within our hospitals and to provide the very best care to our patients.
.
Evidence of English and Maths qualification at Level 2 (GCSE A*-E, GCSE grade 3 – 9, or full Functional Skills Level 1) will be required. Predicted grades will be accepted upon application, however evidence of achievement must be seen prior to appointment.
