Ambulance Services apprenticeships in Lincolnshire NHS offer a practical, paid route into frontline emergency and urgent care roles, supporting patients across the county when they need help most. These apprenticeships combine real‑world experience with nationally recognised qualifications, allowing you to earn while you learn and build a long‑term career in the NHS.

Working within ambulance and urgent care services, apprentices play a vital role in responding to emergency calls, supporting patient assessments, and helping deliver safe, compassionate care in high‑pressure environments. You’ll develop essential clinical, communication and decision‑making skills while being supported by experienced NHS professionals.

Available Levels:

  • Level 3 – Ambulance Support Worker (Emergency, Urgent and Non‑Urgent)
  • Level 4 – Associate Ambulance Practitioner (AAP)
  • Level 6 – Paramedic (Degree)
  • Entry Requirements
Level 3 – Ambulance Support Worker (Emergency, Urgent and Non‑Urgent)
Qualifications Required

Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths must achieve this prior to end‑point assessment. Apprentices must complete an accredited Level 3 Diploma in Ambulance Emergency and Urgent Care Support or a Level 3 Certificate in Ambulance Patient Care, and a Level 3 Ambulance Driving qualification.

Associate Ambulance Practitioner (AAP) – Level 4
Qualifications Required

Entry requirements set by employers. Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths must achieve this prior to end‑point assessment.


Core Units
  • Emergency and urgent care assessment and treatment

 

 

  • Managing patients at scene and reducing unnecessary hospital admissions

 

 

  • Clinical decision‑making within a defined scope of practice

 

 

  • Problem‑solving and patient management in time‑critical situations

 

 

  • Working collaboratively with ambulance crews, emergency services and NHS partners

 

 

  • Professional accountability and responsibility

 

 

  • Clear, structured communication in high‑pressure environments

 


Progression

Completion of the apprenticeship makes individuals eligible for employment within UK NHS Ambulance Services.

Paramedic (Degree) – Level 6
Qualifications Required

Entry requirements set by employers. Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths must achieve this prior to end‑point assessment

Progression

Completion of an approved BSc (Hons) Paramedic programme as part of the apprenticeship. Successful completion enables eligibility to apply for HCPC registration as a Paramedic.
